Good morning Carol fans! Just checking in to let you know that Carol sailed through the first treatment of her new chemo regimen with flying colors yesterday. The prayer now must be to keep the nausea at bay so this girl can gain some weight!
Carol asked me to tell you that she loves mail! Email, snail mail, any mail you want to send her. And she loves comments on the blog. Just please don't expect a reply! It takes too much energy. You know Carol . . . she would answer every single message if she got started!
Carol's mom Ruth arrives tomorrow as the wedding draws near. And the Marshalls are headed to the Eastern Shore for the holiday weekend. Carol promises to post soon!
xoxo

Hi Carol,
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you "passed" your new chemo treatment with flying colors!! Hope that remedy for nausea that everyone has reccommended works i.e. ensure milkshakes....Who knew??? I will now include in my prayers good weather for June 6th since its seems like God is listening extra closely to "Carol" prayers! We'll miss you at reunion, but we'll keep Frank company. I remember the last 5-yr reunion I was laid up with a bad back and now I'm good as new...Let's hope the same pattern happens with you!!!! See you on the 6th. Continued thought and prayers. Carol B.
Carol, Hey! It was good news to hear that the new first chemo treatment went well. You have incredible faith, fortitude and perseverance which is such an incredible medicine that God has empowered within you. All your prayer requests are part of my daily morning, noon and night prayers! You and your family are a continual inspiration plus the amount of love from friends and families is truly amazing and inspiring. Love, Mary Beth
ReplyDeleteTesting, one... two... testing!

Hey Carol,
ReplyDeleteLook at me, it worked. Signing my name was the trick. Yay! I think I've tried to post every single time I've been on your blog (a LOT of times, so I'm very excited it finally worked!) Once I wrote a long post and lost the whole darn thing... hence my "testing" post. :-) I'm so happy to hear that your first treatment on the new regime went well. Thinking all the very best thoughts for you, my friend, and praying always. Can't wait to see you in 2 1/2 weeks. Big Hugs,
Mary Anne

HEY Carol --
ReplyDeleteYou are not going to believe this, but I don't think I have ever BLOGGED. I am such an 'old snail" when it comes to technology. I did, however, want you to know that you live in my heart. I pray for you always and even though our paths don't cross as frequent....AND even though our paths remain as professional contacts.....AND even though I haven't told you how wonderful a role model you are - personally and professionally.....I know we share a mutually strong faith. In this capacity -- I will keep the "prayer current" moving from Iowa!!!!
Carol -- I hope you have a wonderful weekend. You don't need to respond to this.....(because I am not sure I would figure out how to get it anyway :-) .....just know.... we've got a mutual and powerful friend who can do ANYTHING!

Carol,
ReplyDeleteI tried to post a blog from work this week, but you know the impregnable firewalls that IT puts up at the ol' lazy L. Thank you for the wonderful e-mail responding to the letter from 1st Pres. I read it to the men's Bible study group (I should say I had it read by someone, so I wouldn't get too teary, y'know?). Persistent prayer continues your way, dear Carol, for you and the whole family. May you rest always in the knowledge of the grace and protection of God. I know you will be strong for and enjoy Christine's wedding. Greet Frank for me.
Love,
Peter B.
Dear Carol,
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Memorial Day with your family. You and Frank know we are praying, praying, praying!!!
Love to you,
Camilla
Carol,
ReplyDeleteMy prayers were stronger for you and family on the weekend because I was in DC attending my nephew's graduation from GWU. Wow Christine's wedding is just around the corner. This is an exciting summer. Best wishes girlfriend!
Love and prayers from Williamsburg,
Pam
Carol,
ReplyDeleteCould you post your snail mail and email address please so I could send you something? I am so sorry you are going through all this. I hope you feel better soon.

Carol,
ReplyDeleteYippee!!!! So glad to hear of the success of the new treatment. Love to hear of good results!! Larry and I (and family) are continuing to hold ya'll up to our heavenly Father for strength and for your healing.
So excited about the wedding. Looking forward to seeing Christine and meeting Erik. Stephanie is in the throws of planning hers for Sept.5th!! Time marches on! I was thinking of the "plays" they had in the yard in the summer times. Great memories and I have some great pics of those times!!
Blessings to you, my friend, and keep those eyes on the Lord where they are and have been!! What a testimony of God's grace you are to so many and those whom you do not know.
Praying for a great weather, feeling good wedding day for all.
Love and prayers,
Carrie and Larry M.
Carol, Angie has been reading your blog regularly and keeping me informed. Of course, my mother talks about you all the time. The strength you have recieved from God to fight this is awesome. I want you to know that each night before bedtime, my kids say a prayer that "daddy's friend feels better". If you haven't had a chance to see pictures of them, you can look at Angie's blog, smileyfish.blogspot.com. Carol, I will continue to pray for you and your family. Please tell Christine congratulations for me.
ReplyDeleteLove, Clif Thurmond
Carol,
ReplyDeleteHere's a quote I love about perservering...keep it going girlfriend!
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than
unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve
the problems of the human race.

ReplyDeleteHi Carol! It's been just about a year since Susan, the girls, and I had our wonderful vacation in D.C. You and Frank were such gracious hosts and really made our time there super-fun! Please know that we're keeping you (and your fam) lifted up in God's presence in our prayers, both privately and corporately, in church. We love you!
ReplyDeleteMark & Susan
Keeping you, Christine and the rest of the family close to my heart and in all of my thoughts and prayers. Christine and Erik in 16!!

Carol and Frank;
ReplyDeleteHope you all are enjoying the long weekend on the shore. My brother Michael is in Houston visiting and helping me clean out my garage. Found a photo album filled with pictures from our days at Litton. Priceless are the pictures of VJ's baby shower at your house in Oak Park! It's hard to believe that so much time has passed and our children have grown up so fast What's really fasinating is how slim and trim we all were...and how I needed to lose 10 lbs. Love you all,Vickey
ps. just re-read that. What I meant was we were slim and trim, but I thought at the time I needed to lose l0lbs.
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog and am so delighted to see the wedding pictures and read the wedding story. It must have been fabulous. Saw Steve last night at the National Arboretum dinner--the rain was unreal! Keeping you in my prayers and knowing your perfect state of being is now. Much love.
