September 12 Update

Dear All,

I am writing to tell you that there is really nothing to tell you. Carol continues to rest comfortably, highly medicated for pain . . . so uncommunicative. We wait and we pray. Her brother Wayne and his wife Barbara returned from Connecticut yesterday and continue to keep vigil with Ruth, Frank and the rest of the family. Please continue to hold them all in your prayers.

I will be sure to let you know if there is a change.

Love,
Sally

God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile. -Max Lucado (In the Eye of the Storm)

  1. Thank you so much for letting us know. I love that quote from Max Lucado. Indeed, the journey Carol is now on is so hard for family and friends to witness, and it's marred by deep ruts and uneven ground--but the destination will be streets of gold in the realm of the King of Glory.

May the peace of God quiet and soothe the hearts of those who love this amazing woman.

I, too, thank you for letting us know. I appreciate how much you're helping Carol and her family. My heart goes out to Frank and all of the Marshalls keeping vigil.

  4. At a time like this, it is more evident than ever that God works in mysterious ways. What Carol and her family and friends are going through must be part of His plan, altough for many of us it is a quandry.

Bless Carol (and now Sally) for helping and guiding us through this heart-wrenching experience.

Knowing that God is waiting with open arms for his lovely Carol, his newest angel, helps me through this.

    with love, Pam

  5. I'd like to share this quote from "Seize the Day with Dietrich Bonhoeffer" devotional: "To be supported by the faith, love, and prayers of others acknowledges the reality of the 'communion of saints' and expresses an important key in understanding what it means to be the body of Christ."

    Praying, praying, praying!

  6. Sally, I appreciate getting all the updates. Thanks.

May Carol continue to rest comfortably with family and friends nearby. She is such a special friend in Christ. May Carol and her family be comforted by hope, stregthened by faith, and guided by God's love through these difficult days. Psalms 23.

  7. Dearest Carol,

We know you are resting in God.

"The rest of God is a deep rest of the heart that can endure even as we are surrounded by the forces of darkness."

May the words of this hymn bring comfort to you and yours . . .

    Through danger, through darkness, by
    day and by night
Thou ever has guided and guided
    aright
I have trusted in Thee and peacefully
    lay
My hand in Thy hand for the rest of the
    way.

We continue to hold you and your family in our loving thoughts and prayers.

  10. Sally, thank you so much for your faithfulness to Carol and the family and to us by keeping us up-to-date on the news. My heart is sad, but I know that what awaits Carol (and all of us) is so majestically more wonderful than we can even imagine. After reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn, who can ever wish to hold back anyone from heaven's door. Those of us left behind grieve, but those who go through the door rejoice.
    Love,
    Becky

  12. My heart is breaking for the Marshall family and everyone close to Carol. May God hold you all in the palm of His Mighty Right Hand during this very difficult time.

I echo the sentiments of thanking you, Sally, for your faithfulness not only to Carol and family but also to your blog-reading public! "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." Proverbs 17:17. You have been there for Carol and for all of us at such a time as this. . . . . Love, Nancy Patch
