Sunday Afternoon Prayer Request

Okay prayer warriors, get out the knee pads! – We got the disappointing news from Johns Hopkins that even though we have terrific insurance coverage, the Blue Cross paperwork is lagging and despite many calls and contacts from JH, the Blue Cross approval never came in. So, they had to cancel tomorrow’s Liver Biopsy and the PET Scan for Tuesday. (and chemo class!) We are so disappointed… we are so anxious (as is the team at JH) to get a firm diagnosis and get started with The Plan! We were again amazed at the dedication of the team at Johns Hopkins when we got an email and phone call from them over the weekend learning that THEY (including Dr. LaHeru) are on the phones and working this in the background. I again am reassured at how fortunate I am to be in their care.

But here is a picture for you…amidst all the fretting, Christine said, “We need to pray about this.” … I was sitting on the little sofa, Christine was next to me, Frank stood beside holding my hand, Chip was behind me with his hands on both my shoulders and Andrew just plunked his whole hand on the top of my head and we prayed. Please join with us in asking God to remove this first bottleneck. (and to give me patience!) and for healing and peace and to be in all the details. Love, Carol

Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

  1. Proving once again that all things work together for good, I was stressing out on your behalf with the thought of you all driving up to JH tomorrow in the middle of snow and ice. So it would seem sliding the tests a few days may be a good tradeoff vs. sliding sideways up the I-95! Anyway, it will give everyone more time to lay a great foundation of prayer!

  3. Oh Carol,

You know we are praying, and will now add this pesky detail to our requests. Luke 1:37 says, "For nothing is impossible with God".
I have been curious . . . I've been up in the middle of the night at odd times the past couple of days. One night it is 3am, another 4:23, last night, just after 1am. I wonder if you are up then too. If you are, just know that even in the middle of the night, we are praying for you!

    love, sue

  4. I know this sounds bad and the insurance companies are causing problems, but with the storm and snow in the forecast maybe it is God's way of keeping you safe and off the roads where He has plenty of watching out to do for others that are not taking as easy as they should.

  5. Good morning Carol -

As we talk about everything happening for a reason.....worst snow storm in quite some time.....accidents on the road....make me think that this is a great sign of things to come!! God not wanting you on the road to have to deal with all of those who canot drive in this terrible weather and risk you life! Hmmmmm what an intereting sign to me! As my sister always likes to do - is look for signs in everything - she would be the first to tell you THIS IS A GREAT SIGN!!! oh and obviously the whole insurance thing happened for a reason!! You have people on the ground and people in the heavens looking out for you! I personally know a few since they know how much you mean to me!! :-)

    hugs and kisses

    Andrea

  7. Carol:June and I went to National Presbyterian Church yesterday and there was a music meditation that was a gift for you: Be not afraid for I have redeemed you; be not afraid, I have called you by name. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you pass through the floods, they will not sweep o'er you; when you walk through the fire, you will not be consumed: You are mine, you are precious in my sight. My love for you is everlasting, my love for you shall have no end. Based on Isaiah 43:1-4 We love you....J&S.

  8. Carol,
I just learned of your illness. You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers, girlfriend! The power of prayer is tremendous! And, I know that so so so so many are praying for you. Though I have not seen you in a few years, I can picture your beautiful smile and your incredibly positive energy.

May God Hold You Gently While You Wait.
    Love and hugs,

    Jo Pease

  11. Dear Carol,
I brought my laptop to bed with me because I realized I had not checked to see how the biopsy went. When I read your entry, I thot of how many times I have heard people quote Dr Halverson (just heard it again Saturday night) who said every Sunday "You go no where by accident". In your case...you don't go... by accident. As you know so well, He is so very sovereign in our lives. I continue to pray!!! love,Jane D.

  12. Dear Carol,

I echo the messages of the other bloggers - there is always a reason (frustratingly unknown to us mere mortals) for every seeming obstacle - and I was thinking about you two slogging it out to Hopkins this morning, so am very relieved that you had a good reason to skip treacherous travel today and will travel more safely tomorrow.
You are protected by God's mantle and He will keep all of you strong and noursished in mind and spirit (and those lamb chops that Erik made looked pretty good.. . . )
    Love,
    Lynne
